Recent Experience
ChesterCounty InterLink (CCIL) System Administrator from May 1996 to present. The CCIL system is a FreeNet used by more than 2000 citizens of Chester County. It is text based with a Graphical User Interface (PPP) option. Responsibilities include day to day system operations, security, planning and implementing upgrades. Currently we are working toward moving all of CCIL's services to Linux. This includes developing a new and easier to use interface using standard Open Source programs.
Executive Director of CCIL from August 1995 to May 1996, a volunteer position. CCIL is a Community Computer Network providing free Internet access to the citizens of Chester County through a BSDi Unix based client server system. As Director of CCIL I managed the day to day operations. My duties included managing meetings of operational team leaders, planning strategies, planning and presentation of monthly public meetings, paying all bills, installing modems, and InterLink/UNIX Administration duties. I also recruited volunteers, assisted with fund raising and coordinated crisis management.
Netaxs is an Internet Service Provider providing connectivity to other Internet Service Providers, business and residential customers. My primary duties were to monitor and troubleshoot problems at the (NOC) network operations center for our 3 T3`s, T1 and 56K customers, routers and servers. Netaxs uses mostly Solaris servers. 8/97-5/98
Additional experience: Occasional consulting. Unix System Administration. Including integrating Linux gateways/firewalls/ipmasq, file servers, printer servers for LAN's of Windows 95 and 3.1 machines. Hardware design and installation.
CyberWorldNet.com was a startup ISP where I setup the technical side of operations. The company lacked effective marketing and went out of business shortly after I left. 5/97-8/97

Open Source and Linux advocacy
I own and manage Tuxedo.org where Eric Raymond hosts his personal Web pages including the influential paper The Cathedral and the Bazaar and where the Halloween Documents were initially released.
Kathy Miles and I are developing the content for a web site designed to make Linux easier for the inexperienced user, it will also be published as a book.
Senior studies included Numerical Analysis with Dr Hill, modern algebra and statistics by Dr John Allen Paulos. Both professors are successful authors of books in their field and Dr Paulos' book, Innumeracy, was a best seller. I also sat in on a number of graduate level courses and completed Masters level Math, but do not have the degree.
Assoc. of Science Degree in Mathematics/Science from Citrus College.
Principal subjects were Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, and Astronomy.
